The Truth About Chuck Norris

My sister gave Kelly a book entitled, The Truth About Chuck Norris by Ian Spector. It is full of hilarious facts about the legend who is Chuck Norris. Here are a few:

-When an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger aired in France, the French surrendered to Chuck Norris just to be on the safe side.

-Guns don’t kill people, Chuck Norris does.

-Chuck Norris never hides, he only seeks.

-If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can’t see Chuck Norris, you may be only seconds away from death.

-The chief export of Chuck Norris is pain.

-When Chuck Norris was denied a McGriddle at McDonald’s because it was 10:35am, he roundhouse kicked the store so hard it became a Wendy’s.

Keeton Christmas Letter 2009

I asked Kelly if I was able to upload our Christmas letter to my blog and he said it would be really hard. So I’m just copied and pasted sections. Kelly wrote all of it except the “Her Story” section.  It doesn’t look nearly as organized as the actual letter but whatever.

Merry Christmas from the Keetons! or KK²

Highlights: We got a house, we got goats, we lit our cat on fire, Katie is almost a teacher, we got a nice old truck, we went to a ton of family and friends’ weddings, did a lot of painting and yard work, Kelly is still annoying and Katie is still stinky.

His Story

Another year down, this one went really fast as I can still remember writing this letter last year. Well as a new homeowner We are finding the ...joys of fixing leaky faucets and cutting down trees and trying to keep gutters cleaned out. I have been very involved in ham radio now that I have a yard to put an antenna in. We have fully settled into the house and I think as of a month ago, officially unpacked everything.  Katie is enjoying school and I am enjoying the… stressed out over homework wife.  She has been painting everything! We got two goats to eat our blackberry brambles and for entertainment. I started up some fly fishing with my co-worker that is fun!

We had the great opportunity to help out and be a part of our close friends and family members weddings. lots of fun.

For the first year on 4th of July in a while I didn't get injured! We also had a great time at the Puyallup Fair this year, where as the image shows, I got suckered into a ladder. To be fair it’s a awesome ladder! Please contact us to hang out in the next year DE K7MHI!

Her Story

The past year has flown by and we have experienced two major changes. Kelly and I bought our first house (seven miles from my parents) and I started school at City University in Bellevue to earn my Master in Teaching. I’ll be done in March and have learned a ton so far. Some of my favorite quotes from students have been: “Ms. Keeton why is your breaf so nasty?” This poor 1st grader unfortunately had to smell my coffee breath and yes he said, “breaf”. I chew gum now. Another quote from a 7th grade student, “Ms. Keeton your Vans are filthy!” translated: your tennis shoes are really cool.

When I’m not doing homework and writing lesson plans Kelly and I work on our house. The main stuff I’ve done is paint. Kelly and I did have a great idea to level our slanted front yard. We had yards and yards of dirt trucked in and dumped in our front yard. Unfortunately we didn’t do anything with it for months so we had a gigantic pile of dirt to look at.

Sprinkles Corner...

  Picture4Picture5

Hello well this year was quite a busy one, I am about 8 years old now in cat years, this year I was put into a new house. Its awesome I have carpet now which allows me to run and turn real fast. I also have lots of new things to sniff and most important I really get a kick out of messing with the blinds so the big guy yells a lot because I break them. I have also uprooted two house plants this year, I feel good about that. As for that little incident with my fur on fire I didn't see what the big deal was but I will agree it stunk. Oh if you come to visit I will try and puke up something I ate on the carpet for you!

Until next year or a expensive vet bill –

Chamomile Tea

I was slaving away on homework a few nights ago and felt like complaining. I whined to Kelly,

“Can you go make me some chamomile tea?”

To which he responded, “What? I don’t even know what camel tea is?”

Needless to say I made my own tea.

Poop on Stairs
I went outside to check the mail. Then went back inside and up our stairs when I noticed something brown on the stairs that looked like dirt. I matter of factly picked it up. It was not dirt. It was cold and squishy and when I put it up to my nose to sniff it I discovered much to my horror it was poop. I’m going to blame Sprinkles because I don’t poop on the stairs.

Thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m sitting here watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and working on homework and feeling particularly thankful. I thought I would write a list of everything and everyone that I am thankful for. This way I can refer back to it when I start feeling sorry for myself (which is completely inexcusable).

Turkey 2

(Stuffing the turkey last year)

1. My God who is full of love and grace (I need a lot of grace)

2. A loving and patient husband

3. A fun and loving family (this of course includes my awesome in laws)

4. Friends who make me laugh and hold me accountable

5. A church where I can grow to know God more

6. The health of my loved ones and my own health

7. A roof over my head, dishes to wash, and bathrooms to clean

8. The luxury of being in school

9. The middle school students that make me laugh and remind me what it was like to be thirteen-years-old

10. Sprinkles the cat

11. Coffee

12. Wool socks

13. Indoor plumbing

14. Elastic waist pants

15. Seat warmers in cars

I could go on and on and on, but I’ll stop at that.

He Just Can't Win

The faucet in our upstairs bathroom has been dripping for months. I was doing homework upstairs while Kelly decided to take the faucet apart and fix it. All of a sudden I heard lots of water gushing in the bathroom. So I took a peek. Super hot water was blasting straight up out of the faucet and Kelly was holding a small cup over the small geyser to shield himself from the water. Kelly yelled to me over the spraying water to turn the water off down stairs. I sprinted down stairs but was panicking so I ran to the electrical panel, stared at it and realized that wasn’t what I needed. Next I ran across the room to the knob that lets hot water in to the washer and started cranking it righty tighty, then I thought to myself, “duh, this is not the right knob!” Lastly I spotted the knob above the hot water header and cranked it hard to the right. I heard water stop gushing out of the faucet upstairs. I went back upstairs to check on Kelly. His poor right hand had been burned by the scalding water. Yes, this is the same hand that was blown up by homemade firecrackers and had a chunk taken out of it the weekend before while Kelly attempted to slice apples. His hand was pretty red but it wasn’t blistered at all so I told him to suck it up. Just kidding. I took pity on him and thanked him profusely for trying to fix the faucet.

Later in the day Kelly left for McLendon’s to get parts for our now out of order faucet. About an hour later he called to tell me that he had gotten the parts for the faucet but he truck wouldn’t start so he bought and installed a new battery. However, when he went to get into his truck he realized that his only key was in the ignition, locked inside. My parents live within walking distance to where he was so my dad came and together they used a coat hanger jimmy the lock up and open the door.

After that Kelly walked back over to McLendon’s and made a copy of his key.

Sprinkles on Fire

Now don’t get too concerned over this title. Sprinkles our fluffy, adorable cat is doing just fine. However a few weeks ago I was doing homework at our dining room table with a nice candle next to me. Sprinkles jumped up on one of the dining room chairs and looked like she wanted to join me on the table. Now I never let her up on the table because that’s just gross, but she was looking at me longly so I let her jump up. Big mistake. She laid down near the candle and I went back to my homework. After a while I noticed a burning smell and looked up. There was smoke rising from Sprinkles!!! She is a very furry/fluffy cat and part of her fur had gotten caught in the flame of the candle. I reached out to grab her and pat the flames out but she ran and jumped off the table! I raced around the table and tackled her to the floor and a little more than patted out the flames. I don’t think she knew she was on fire on in any danger. I had to trim some of her fur off because it was singed and the upstairs reeked of burnt hair for quite a while. However Sprinkles the cat lives on. Here are some pictures to prove it.

You Never Know What You'll Find...

Last Saturday Kelly and I went to Costco, Fred Meyer, Target and Bed Bath & Beyond searching for an apple corer for him and some other stuff. I decided to document interesting and strange items I found on our journey.

Image045

What would you use “heavy duty mayonnaise” for?

Image046

Who thinks of these titles?!

Image047

Would anyone like to purchase a CD with music specifically to relax their pooch? I listened to it and I don’t think dogs would like it. There isn’t any barking.

Image048

Oh yes, you can now purchase a snuggie…for your dog!

Now don’t everyone start being greedy and adding all of these items to your Christmas lists, Santa is a busy man and we’re still kind of in a recession.

Emergency Room Trip (#3)

My mother-in-law Betty teases me occasionally that when I married Kelly I knew full well what I was getting myself into – that I was going in eyes wide open. (For those of you who don’t know Kelly blew his hand up with homemade firecrackers a week before we started dating. For our first date I drove because he couldn’t shift his car due to his hand being bandaged up.)

Last Saturday started like all other normal Saturdays before it. I had coffee, wasted time on facebook, and attempted homework. Later Kelly and I ran some errands and bought an apple corer. One of his many current projects is slicing apples and drying them. They are actually quite delicious. After our errands Kelly started slicing his apples while I talked on the phone with my sister. All of a sudden Kelly started screaming and didn’t stop. So I decided to hang up with my sister to see what was the matter. Kelly had sliced off a portion of his thumb and was bleeding – a lot. I told him right then and there that this looked bad and it didn’t look like it was going to stop on its own. I wrapped his thumb in a ton of gauze (the blood soaked through quickly) and I drove him the the ER at Valley Medical Center (I knew we bought our house for a reason – being close to a hospital is essential when your name is Kelly Keeton).

The doctors were great at Valley and the whole experience went faster then I expected.

Here are some pictures from our trip to the ER.

Yes, the red on his pointer finger is blood.

Now you might be asking yourself what were Kelly’s 1st and 2nd trips to the ER? I began counting his trips to the ER once we started dating. His first trip was when he felt SUPER sick so we went to get him check out. His second trip was when a cliff on an isolated, small island near Bellingham gave way under him and he fell quite a few feet.

Sacha Baron Cohen & Larry Charles Talk 'Bruno'

Kelly and I suckered into seeing the movie Bruno this past summer. There were some funny parts and some highly inappropriate parts but I think that was how the film was supposed to be viewed. You know shock value.

On NPR last night I couldn’t stop laughing listening to Sacha Baron Cohen and Larry Charles (director of Religious, Borat and Bruno) discuss the making of Bruno with the host of Fresh Air, Terry Gross.

Have a listen for your self:

If you aren't sure who the character Bruno is here are some pictures to help jog your memory.

My favorite character that Sacha Baron Cohen created and plays is Ali G. He is a British wanna-be gangster. Hilarious.
